I love this place! My family and I eat here at least once a week. Sometimes more. Excellent service, delicious food and great margaritas! It's a "must come and try" place.

Absolutely AWFUL! Maybe if you have a party of 8 or more then you'll get DECENT service. We were a party of three and it took 30mins to get chips and salsa along with a drink order then another 15mins for napkins. We asked another waitress other than the one given to us for some silverware and she proceeded to clean up a table and collect her tip while we continued to wait. She never brought us silverware. Our waitress came to get our order after almost 40mins passed. My husband kept encouraging me to leave but I wanted to give them the benefit but after waiting an hour and a half of no food I decided it was time to leave. As we were walking out the waitress gave us our food. I never write reviews because I've never had an experience this awful but I'm hoping to warn others. They need to re-train their waitresses!

Ok well this place had just opened up so my girlfriend and I decided to try it out. It is in an old buffet building and it looks like they just hung up some sombreros and reopened. I had the fajitas. They were not anything special. Not horrible, but I guess it's kinda hard to screw up fajitas. My girlfriend had the steak poblano and no joke, it tasted like a Philly cheesesteak wrapped in a chili. The rice was pretty tasteless, it's pretty bad when my 3 year old wouldn't eat it. The beans actually weren't to bad. The worst part about this place was the wait staff. I seriously felt like they were hounding me. I got asked if everything was ok a good 13-15 times during my main service. There were like 4 waitresses sitting around doing nothing, and this was 8 o'clock on a Saturday. It almost felt as if they were scared of something, prob their food. All around 2 stars. I would have given it one but considering the quality of the ft walton Mexican food, I guess it could be worse. And the 2-1 beers and margarita softened the blows, would not recommend.

This was by far the best Mexican food I've had in Florida. I've lived in Cali the last 5 years which is the only reason they didn't get my 5 star (because they still fall short of the real thing). HOWEVER if you're used to east coast Mexican food prepare to be impressed. Service was awesome. Chips and drinks on the table within a minute of sitting. Highly recommend.

Not even close! Went here for a last minute dinner figured it would be quick as most Mexican places are. Service was good food was served quick but was awful. It's bad when you push your plate away and have to fill up on chips drink and cheese dip. Don't go here. Period. Kids menu/food is not something you'd want to feed your offspring.

This review was written after two visits to Chapala's. Both times there was absolutely no wait to be seated. Both times out server took our orders quickly. The wait after ordering is around 5-10 minutes it seemed. You can tell everything is pre made/ pre cooked just by how quickly your food is sent out. But nothing was dry, cold, over heated, or over cooked. It all tasted pretty good. Enchiladas are just meat wrapped in tortillas, covered in sauce and cheese. Nothing special. The fajitas came out sizzling. The vegetables MIGHT have been freshly cooked, but I am doubtful of it just because how fast the order was brought out. They were still had the crisp/crunch though, which was good. Overall both visits have been good. No reason not to return, yet.

I am a California transplant so I know what I like in Mexican cruisine. This place is legit. Great tasting food a staff that is friendly and engaged in their product, I lived in the area for almost three years this place rocks! Great menu generous portions, friendly staff. Must stop for tourists as this is where the locals grub.

This is the best Mexican Restaurant in the area. We have been to them all and Chapala's outdoes everyone else. The chicken is baked and hand pulled that they put in the entrees, what I like about it is they don't overly season the food to hide the taste of the meat, the chicken dishes are the best. Very reasonable priced for the ton of food that they bring you, the salsa is homemade and the guacamole is hand made. I usually get the pick three with the chicken on all, rice and beans come with it for $9.99. What a deal. Miguel usually takes care of us and he is the best. Two for one drafts everyday, now where else can you get two for one Corona light drafts that come in a large mug for $4.98. The chips are hot and fresh and the food is wonderful, I don't understand the bad reviews, some people are never happy, we have ate there 10 times and never had bad service or a bad meal. They also give a military discount.

Average Mexican restaurant. Nothing special. Recently visited hoping for some Mexican food that was actually "authentic" and not just the average Tex Mex fare. We asked if there was any spicier salsa that we could get, as most Mexican places have a salsa picosa that you can get by request. Was surprised to find that we were actually charged for that salsa, but didn't make a bother out of it. Being that it was a Mexican restaurant I decided to get a margarita. The sign in the lobby said the house margs were 2-4-1. The server said that any size would apply, and was way to persistent on upcharging to the large. I said "No, I'll just take the medium" about 3 times. I had the fajitas, but like another reviewer stated, it's pretty hard to mess those up. All in all it was an average dining experience, but it would be nice to see more authentic Mexican menu items such as mole, and less of the Tex Mex stuff where everything is covered in queso.

The food was good. I got a steak burrito deluxe and it was just what I wanted and pretty darn tasty. The waitress was very nice, but seemed a little off that night - she didn't know the one special they had out front, brought our table of two three entrees and it took a while to get the food even though it wasn't crowded, etc. Overall good and I'd go back or the food. Chapalas, if your reading this, maybe train up your wait staff a little better!

I highly recommend the massive mixed nacho plate with chicken, shrimp, pork, and steak. It is entirely fresh including the cilantro. If in a group, everyone will find a taste they like with this item. It could easily be shared by four people and you probably would not need to order an additional entree! If you do order an entree, be prepared to eat leftovers for a few days. I ordered the Carne Asada and it was wonderful, but massive with two pieces of skirt steak about a pound of rice and refried beans and several scoops of this wonderful concoction they serve here called "guacamole salad." All of this was served on a friggin' meat platter! I asked the server if this was family style service and were others in my party sharing this and she giggled and told me "it is all for you, big guy." Everyone in my dining party carried at least one box and some took two boxes to put the remainer of their dinner in to take home--the portions are that large. The service is wonderful, and the food is good, I just wish they would cut the portions in half and lower the prices a little. I ended up getting two extra meals as leftovers, but I would prefer to pay a lower price, be able to finish my plate, and come back for another visit and eat fresh food again.

Nope, thumbs down. I attended a luncheon here and there was nothing about this place that I enjoyed. It took forever to get our food, I didn't enjoy my entree, the sweet tea tasted odd, and the salsa wasn't flavorful at all. We were seated in the adjoining room where they host large parties and it was so hot in there. There were over 20 in our party and only 1 waitress handled us all, meanwhile several other waitstaff were present and sitting together socializing. When it came time for us to check out it was the same deal, the one waitress handling all of the orders. I won't be back.

Great food. Great service. Chicken enchiladas are shredded breast meat not the cut up thigh meat you get in many places. Great mole sauce too. Very fresh and I will definitely eat here again.

Went with my mother and daughter for a Friday dinner. Dora was our server and she was very sweet. She made some recommendations so u took her advice. I got some fajitas that included shrimp, steak, pork, chicken, and chorizo. Very nice value for the portions and had a great taste. My mom loved her food but my daughter didn't each much of hers. Probably because of the chips and salsa n queso she filled up on. We got to-go boxes so we could order sopapias which were amazing. Didn't care for the fried ice cream because the sopapias were so good. I did check the reviews prior to coming and even though of the poor reviews, we wanted to try it for ourselves. My mom would have given it 5 stars. We will be back.

Legitimately delicious. The carnitas tortas is nor to be missed, a giant soft buttery roll filled with slow roasted pork tips, lettuce, tomato, mayo, onions and jalapeños. The chicken chalupa was stuffed with moist pulled chicken and the tamale, tacos and enchiladas were also tasty (I didn't try them). Price is affordable and service was quick and friendly. Our new hometown go to!

Great service and food, and cheap. Party of six with 4 beers came to $75. Only wish we had saved room for dessert.

What a great place! We had an assortment of entrees but hands down pollo con crema was the best! Happy hour margaritas were a plus! Our waiter was Jose and he couldn't have been better!!

Worst service and food. The wait staff sat at the front and chit chatted. Never came back. We had to ask for our check. The food tasted old, and it made me nauseous. Won't be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
